Extra Credit Opportunities 1 and 2

Posted by julie20201 on September 17, 2007

Posted 9/16/2007 due 9/21/2007

1. Find a biology-related newspaper or magazine article that deals with some ethical issue. Ie. Abortion, cloning, stem cell research – these are the most common, but certainly not the limits.

Max Possible points = 3 (2 if you want to use the article I have); to get 3 pts it’d better be gorgeous as well as well thought out and worded

Summarize the article in one paragraph.

Describe how it relates to biology. What specific field of study is involved?

Write a 1-3 paragraph reaction to the article. The more thorough, the more likely you will earn the extra credit points. Pick a side on the issue involved and defend it.

Cite your sources – where the article came from, background research, etc.

2. Bring in a box of teddy grahams (each class needs 4 boxes)

Posted 9/16/2007 due 9/21/2007

Possible pts 2

Please note that I only need 2-4 boxes per class. In order to earn these two points, you MUST email me your full name, class period, and interest in bringing in a box of Teddy Grahams.

Must be brought in on or b/f Friday 9/21/07

Notes about homework

Posted by julie20201 on September 11, 2007

Do all homework on a separate sheet of paper.

Follow any and all directions.

Full Name! First and Last

Spiral stuff on the sides of papers – get rid of it, cut it off or use looseleaf paper

Neatness counts – if I can’t read it, it’s wrong

Write in complete sentences!

Hand in homework in the beginning of class.  If I don’t have it by the time I take the folder, it’s not there.  Starting Monday 9/17/07 any homework received late doesn’t exist = 0.
